Gen & Gerald's Relaxed Kumeu Valley Estate Wedding (Auckland wedding photographers)

Kumeu Valley Estate is one of West Auckland's most popular wedding venues, and it's easy to understand why. With its beautiful rustic charm, relaxed atmosphere, and picturesque surroundings, it provides the perfect setting for couples looking to celebrate their wedding day with family and friends.

This time, it was Gen and Gerald's turn to say "I do."

Surrounded by their closest loved ones, they celebrated a beautiful and heartfelt wedding day that focused on what mattered most to them - spending quality time with the people who have been part of their journey together.

The couple has a wonderful story that spans more than a decade.

Gen and Gerald first met in the United States at a New Zealand Embassy party on election night in 2014. At the time, Gerald had just started his PhD, while Gen was working at the Embassy. As they got talking, they discovered they shared mutual friends and had actually attended the same wedding three years earlier, sitting back-to-back without ever meeting.

Eleven years, two children, and countless memories later, they finally made their way down the aisle together.

Their proposal was just as genuine as their relationship.

As Gen describes it:

"Rather last minute and, in true us style, slightly awkward! We were having a picnic in Manchester Garden Park and Gerald tried very hard to keep it a surprise. He gave a lovely speech before proposing."

Not every proposal needs grand gestures or elaborate plans. Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones that perfectly reflect who you are as a couple.

Their wedding day itself was a wonderful example of celebrating in a way that felt authentic to them. Although rain made an appearance throughout the day, it certainly didn't dampen the atmosphere. Friends and family gathered together to celebrate, laugh, reconnect, and create new memories.

One of the things I particularly loved about this wedding was the couple's approach to photography. Rather than focusing on formal family portraits or a dedicated couple's session, Gen and Gerald chose to prioritise documenting the day as it naturally unfolded. They wanted to spend as much time as possible with their guests and capture genuine interactions, emotions, and moments with the people they love.

As a documentary wedding photographer, these kinds of celebrations are always a joy to photograph. There is something special about stepping back, observing, and allowing the story of the day to unfold naturally.

The couple also requested that photos of their children remain private, a wish I was very happy to respect. While they played an important role in the celebration, preserving their privacy was a priority for the family.

Despite the rain, the day was filled with warmth, laughter, and meaningful moments—everything a wedding should be.

Congratulations to Gen and Gerald! Thank you for trusting me to document such a special chapter of your lives.

Wedding at Little Wilderness - Olga and Juan (Kumeu) photography

Congratulations Olga & Juan celebrated their special wedding day with close friends and family at Little Wilderness (Kumeu). Feels like we just done with this beautiful couple their pre-wedding photo shoot and big day come so fast!

Olga’s parents made their way from Russia to celebrate this day with couple. Unfortunately Juan’s parents cant come due to the sad times in family - nana passed away, but they can still participate watching online through Live stream. Such a special memories for years to come!

Couple shared their love story: “We met at an English school a bit more than 6 years ago. Our mutual friend introduced us to each other. I didn't like him initially because he didn't believe that I was Russian and I needed to show him my passport. He was a bit arrogant and mean. Then with time, we started hanging out more and having long conversations. We understood that we have many things in common. Without realizing we started dating, and now we are getting married and cannot imagine living without each other.” Proposal story is very touching as well: I came back home from work on the 31st of December and he asked me to check something in our room. There was a little necklace on the deb and a letter. When I read it I was almost crying as it was beautiful. When I turned around he was on his knee with a ring box in his hand and asked me to marry him.” Such a special memories!

Gracehill vineyard Estate - Kumeu - Meghan and Anton {West Auckland wedding photographer}

Exciting time celebrating special day in Gracehill Vineyard Estate in Kumeu, with Meghan and Anton and their close friends and family! So beautiful moments and honour for me, West Auckland wedding photographer, to document these for couple.

Meghan & Anton shared their story: “Anton and Meghan's love story began the classic Kiwi way - through the dating app Tinder. Their first date was at Mexico Restaurant in Ellerslie, where they were both so impressed by the other's company that they arranged a second date the next day. From that day onwards they pledged their commitment to the relationship, and it's only got better with time. Fifteen months later, on September 15, 2019, this commitment was made official, when Anton proposed in a redwood tree grove at Hamurana Springs - Meghan happily said "Yes, finally!". So romantic story!

Amazing time in The Hunting Lodge, one of the most exciting wedding venue with modern architecture and barn feel at stunning location with amazing hills and vinery. Such a pleasure to shoot there for us, wedding photographers in Auckland {New Zealand}.

Nicole & Brian come over from Hong Kong to celebrate this special day with their close friends and family. It was amazing day full of love and laugher.

“Their story began in 2014 when they were colleagues at the same company. Their friendship began as friends and the chemistry of love was ignited after a special Christmas boat party. Brian shared that this next step was just natural. They had so much in common, but it was special, and they both realised their friendship had a very special sparkle. They shared the same values, they enjoyed the same challenges, and they genuinely supported each other and trusted each other’s judgements, they were truly best friends. Their relationship blossomed and their love grew and deepened. When Nicole headed to the Netherlands to study, their trust and love was strong, and it sustained them both, and they were able to have a successful long-distance relationship for 2 years.”

Proposal” “In August 2017 Brian planned the proposal, He wanted to make a special surprise for Nicole. He told Nicole he had to work overtime when he was actually decorating their home. After dinner Brian suggested that Nicole go to the ATM, she needed a bit of persuasion but in the end off she went. And a very very relieved Brian had a few finishing touches for the surprise when Nicole walked in the door. Everything went according to plan, except Nicole turned on the lights and reduced the level of romance, but , to Brian’s delight Nicole said YES.”
